The qualifying session was red-flagged, with many criticizing the decision. Some like Eddie Jordan et al claiming that, for teams that had chosen to go out early and get a time set, are being cheated by the red flagging, as this gives other teams a second chance, (but it gives everyone a second chance doesn't it)?
On the other side of the argument, is a safety issue, and as David Coulthard pointed out; These are F1 racing cars, not speed-boats! What with the low ground clearance there is a massive risk of aquaplaning; Not just from the tires but mainly from the under-belly board that is only millimeters from the road surface.
Safety has to be paramount, in this F1 fans eyes, it was the right decision. I'd rather see a race on Sunday with all the teams and drivers running in the race, than listen to reports of how loads of repairs and injuries are coming along!

Note - Kamui Kobayashi dropped 5 positions and Jean-Eric Vergne dropped 10 positions for causing collisions in the previous round. Nico Hulkenberg and Charles Pic also dropped 5 positions each for gearbox changes. Charles Pic failed to make 107% mark, yet still races at stewards' discretion.

Finally, one not to miss, on the BBC red Button service tonight (8th July), is the after race party, where many of the drivers and team owners will be. Eddie Jordan with be playing the drums on stage at the event.
